10 Months of 100+ Job Applications, Rejections, A Dozen Interviews, Accelerated Studying, and Finally...

What once felt like an endless cycle of rejection has finally come to a close—and I’m so excited to share that I’ll be starting a new role in finance (payroll/AP/HR) next week! It’s a flexible part-time position that fits my schedule perfectly, and after training, it’ll transition into a hybrid, almost fully remote role. I couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity to grow in this new career path.

Each commute, I’ll drive past the animal hospital where we said goodbye to our sweet Morticia, and in a quiet, full-circle way, this feels like a healing journey in the right direction. A sign that I’m exactly where I need to be.

This new chapter also means I’m officially preparing to close the made-to-order doors on Agashi, my handmade clothing brand of the past 12 years. It’s been an emotional decision, but with clarity and gratitude, I can now finalize the budget for remaining orders and logistics without taking on any additional business debt—something that once felt impossible. The light at the end of this long tunnel is finally shining through.

All open merch and about a dozen handmade orders will be shipped by next Friday, as I begin the process of clearing out our garage and downsizing my sewing room and supplies. I’ll be posting an official Order Updates blog post on Friday, May 30th. I'll be listing any samples found through this cleaning process as Ready-to-Ship items too.

Over the past year, I took a much-needed break from content creation to fully focus on accelerating my online studies and earning certifications to transition into this new field. It’s been intense, but completely worth it. And now, with this new role and a more structured, balanced schedule, I’ll be able to show up more consistently in all the areas I love again.

That means I’ll also be able to continue sharing online sewing tutorials, because teaching and connecting with the sewing community will always be part of who I am. I’m committed to keeping all of my sewing tutorials completely free, permanently, as a way to give back to the DIY community that’s supported me from the very beginning. Creating has never left my heart, and now I can share it in a way that feels healthy and joyful.

I’ll also be documenting my journey of how I landed a role in finance without a formal degree in finance or accounting. From my pre-Agashi finance roles, self-paced learning, online certifications, and resilience. I'm excited to vlog my new FinSew life soon. If you’ve been feeling stuck or dreaming of a fresh start, I hope my story reminds you that it’s never too late to change direction and pursue the life you really want.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me through every version of this journey. This is just the beginning, and I’m so ready. <3
