Life Lately: Balance, Birthday Vibes & Order Updates

Our garage is still a bit of organized chaos, but progress is progress — and we’re definitely getting there!

Lately, I’ve found a great routine balancing my weekday finance job with Agashi and digital sewing content on my days off. I’m about halfway through training and onboarding, and it’s so rewarding to finally apply everything I studied over the past year. All those late nights are really paying off. Having this balance feels like a breath of fresh air! Weekends are now all about us: Costco runs, catching up on chores, and golf lessons (new hobby!).

In the next few months, I’ll be downsizing the Agashi website to focus on a smaller collection of digital sewing patterns, ongoing blog posts, and a limited selection of ready-to-ship and clearance items. This shift is necessary as I prepare for major certification exams later this year and need to dedicate more time to growing my finance career.

The sewing and maker community has faced some tough losses lately — first Joann stores closing, then the Big 4 sewing pattern brands being sold to a liquidator. As a longtime maker, it’s heartbreaking to see these pillars disappear. This isn’t just business; it’s a huge loss for generations of makers who rely on these resources to learn, create, and connect. That’s why I’m committed to keeping my sewing content free and accessible — supporting fellow makers has always been and will always be a core part of who I am as a self-taught, self-made sewist and creative.

Switching from the nonstop 24/7 hustle to a steady 9-5 has been amazing. I finally feel like I can breathe, focus, and enjoy both work and life again.

I’m also close to hitting my goal weight! I’ve been consistently going to the gym 3–4 days a week—big thanks to weights and the stair climber for keeping me humble. These lifestyle changes have transformed my energy, mood, and health. After years of battling chronic inflammation and navigating perimenopause, putting my wellness first has been one of the best choices I’ve made.

And this Saturday, I’m turning 42! My husband and I will celebrate with dinner at our favorite restaurant, rain or shine. It’s a tradition I cherish, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
