A Heartfelt Thank You and Some Major Changes Ahead

Remembering Morticia on Her Birthday on International Cat Day

Today is International Cat Day and would have been Morticia’s 11th birthday, the first one without her presence here. I miss her more than words can express. She wasn’t just my cat; she was my little shadow, my comfort, and the quiet heartbeat that kept me company through daily life and every sewing session.

Since she passed away in late March, the whole house, especially my sewing room, has felt much quieter. I still find myself looking for her in all her favorite spots. Gomez and Pugsley are slowly adjusting too, coming to terms with a life without her. Even though things feel different, today I’m still celebrating her, just in a new way.

Happy Birthday, Baby Mo (Morticia)! Thank you for being the sweetest part of my life for so many years. I love you forever, my beautiful girl.

A Heartfelt Thank You and Some Major Changes Ahead

I also want to take a moment to sincerely thank my remaining customers for sticking by me and supporting Agashi through these last few challenging years. Over the past year, I’ve devoted a lot of time to focusing on my health and wellness and redefining how I want to spend my time. Striving for a better work/life balance has become a priority, especially after a few health scares involving both my husband and myself, and the heartbreaking loss of some dear friends. These experiences have put everything into perspective.

Along with these changes, my relationship with sewing has evolved too. What once was my full-time job filled with deadlines and high stress is now something I want to enjoy purely for fun and creativity, sewing as a hobby, not a pressure-filled obligation. This shift feels like a healthy and necessary pivot, allowing me to reconnect with the joy of making without the weight of running a business.

Soon, I’ll be transitioning my hybrid job to a remote role as a Payroll Administrator and HR Generalist, which I’m really excited about. I’m already planning to rearrange my entire sewing room into a cozy new home office and creative space. Our garage is still a bit chaotic and needs to be fully cleaned out, but once that’s done, it will finally serve as a storage space for our second car.

I completely understand if some of you don’t want to wait beyond the end of this year for your handmade orders, so I want to offer a clear refund window for anyone who prefers that option.

Thanks to my new payroll/HR career, I’m in a comfortable financial position to offer refunds to anyone who requests one, so please don’t hesitate if you would prefer that. In the next few weeks, I’ll be reaching out by email to all remaining customers with details about the refund window and next steps. I’ll be carefully reviewing the time needed to complete the remaining orders and will decide which ones may need to be canceled with a full refund. To ensure fairness and clarity, any orders not completed by Halloween will be automatically canceled with refunds processed promptly. My goal is to have this all resolved before Halloween, which feels fitting as it will be my first Halloween since Joann’s shutdown.

Looking Ahead

With the ongoing challenges of rising tariffs, fabric and supply costs, and the loss of some incredible fabric vendors over the years, sustaining a handmade operation has become increasingly difficult. Now feels like the right time to simplify and step back from the brand I’ve loved so much. In the meantime, I’ll be shipping out merch orders first since they’re ready to go, and I still have a few Some Like It Goth and Goth In The Wind hats left in stock. Next week is a payroll week for my day job, so I’ll be locked in with that, but I plan to ship merch orders next Thursday and Friday. Weekends are when I try to take some time off and rest, especially since I’m still juggling both my personal brand and professional careers.

Moving forward, I will focus on offering digital sewing patterns, some ready-to-ship merchandise, and Agashi samples to keep things manageable while continuing to share my love for creative design.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. Your support has meant everything. <3
